Supporting Widows
Being a widow is itself an extremely upsetting and painful experience of someone’s life. But in the many countries around the globe which are not fully developed this painful situation becomes the origin of many new problems and hardships. These issues arise because of the establishment of some traditions according to which people do not support girl’s education and prefer childhood marriages. As a result of these traditions women remain uneducated and unskilled. In most of these areas, only men are considered as the ‘bread winner’ for the family. So when these women have to face the widowhood they suddenly become the head of the family, but because of their uneducated background instead of facing these problems they become the victims which results in the breakage of a whole family.
Peace Education Mission have a strategy to deal with issues of widows. At first step, our focus is to provide widows with basic necessities that includes; food, clothes, shelter and health facilities.
Our next step is to initiate programs which offer widows basic training courses and skills. We use our resources to make these training programs accessible for every widow regardless of their circumstances. The purpose of these programs is to make these women financially independent, so they can deal with their routine life issues.
Along with these measures we also try to spread the awareness among the masses related to the education of girls and childhood marriages. The reason behind this agenda is to deal with the root causes of the widowhood problems.
